Infant Potty Training/Elimination Communication
Did you know that babies can learn to pee and poop on cue? Or that toddlers by the age of 18 months can be potty trained? This is hard to imagine, but the truth is, healthy babies are aware of when they "go" and have the ability to communicate this awareness from the moment they are born.
Elimination Communication (also known as EC or Infant Potty Training), is a practice in which parents and caretakers help their babies slowly learn about their elimination needs, and allow them to eliminate in a desired place (e.g. the potty) rather than a diaper. So by the time they’re two, they’ll be using the potty because that’s the only thing they’ve ever known.
As unusual as this may sound in the western world, EC has been a common practice across the world for many decades, however died out in many parts of the world after the introduction of the disposable diaper in the early 60's.
Here are some reasons why parents choose EC over traditional potty training:
What you will learn
We’ll cover how EC works, how to get started, key milestones and common concerns. We will also cover how you can make EC work with your lifestyle and schedule. (Yes, working moms can do this too!)
Join us to learn how you can reduce your dependency on diapers and have your baby daytime dry by 18 months.
This class is best suited for:
Expectant parents and parents or caretakers with babies under the age of 6 months. (EC can also be practiced with older babies, but we will be focusing on the 0-6 months age range in this class.)
