Event Sponsors ($100 to $499) East/West Massage Grants to Blossom Birth Palo Alto Menlo Park Parents Club The Palo Alto Menlo Park Parents Club honored Blossom Birth with a grant in the summer of 2007. This grant was in recognition of Blossom's work with young children, pregnant women and families in the community. The mission of the Parents' Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park is to enrich the lives of families with young children, both within our club and the community. They are a diverse group of parents who have come together to form a volunteer-led, non-profit organization that provides education, support, social activities and structures to network and learn from each other. The Rotary Club of Palo Alto graciously funded a grant of $3,000 to Blossom Birth in March 2008. This grant enables Blossom to expand the collection of DVDs in Blossom's library so that families can learn more about prenatal health, birth, baby care, breastfeeding, and early parenting. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women. Blossom Birth gratefully acknowledges a grant of $5,000 from the Yahoo! Employees Foundation toward our new program to expand community support for families experiencing birth-related mood disorders and challenges. About 15% of women experience mood difficulties in pregnancy and/or afterwards; these difficulties are typically undiagnosed and untreated, often with unfortunate impact on infant development and family well-being. Blossom's program, launched summer of 2007, includes a weekly drop-in support group for women experiencing prenatal and postpartum challenges and provider education. After a thorough grantmaking process with more than 30 Yahoo! employees involved, the Foundation chose to support this program with this generous grant.
