Baby Sign Language

Stop guessing what your baby is trying to tell you and start spending more time fulfilling your child's specific needs. Baby Sign Language gives parents the opportunity to communicate with children long before babies can verbalize their wants and needs. Research studies show that signing with babies accelerates language acquisition, reduces frustration and aggressive behavior, and as children mature, results in a greater interest in reading. Introductory Workshop

The Introductory Workshop introduces basic baby signs that are based on American Sign Language (ASL) and is designed for expectant parents and parents with hearing babies who range in age from birth to 18 months old. The workshop is an hour and a half long during which information on the latest research on the benefits of signing with babies will be discussed. Parents are taught useful tips on how to train their babies to sign. Fun activities and songs will show you how easy it can be to integrate these signs into your every day routine and jump-start your child's verbal skills. This is a great way to see what infant signing is all about without a major commitment.

Playgroup

Our six-week Playgroup is a fun opportunity for parents to build their signing vocabulary with themes like mealtime, animals, colors, family, safety, and more. Two different playgroup series are offered for an increased opportunity to practice and build your signing vocabulary. One is called Playgroup Zoom and the other is called Playgroup Boom. No need to take them in order- start with either Zoom or Boom. You are welcome to bring your baby, but it is not required.

Not everyone may be able to make it to all the classes. With vacations and unexpected illnesses it's rare that everyone attends every playgroup. For this reason we have formated each hour long lesson plan to spend thirty minutes reviewing all the vocabulary that we learned the previous week. Touch Blue Sky does not offer make up classes.
